Turn one blog post into five social posts

A practical way to use AI for this job in a small business, with a prompt you can copy.

You spent a whole evening writing a blog post. It went up on the website, three people read it, and that was that. Meanwhile your social accounts are hungry and you've got nothing to feed them.

The job
Turn one blog post into five social posts
Tool(s)
ChatGPT or Claude
Time saved
About 1 hour per post (estimate). My rough estimate, not a measured result.

The prompt

Prompt
Here's a blog post I wrote: [paste post]. Turn it into 5 social posts: one for LinkedIn (up to 150 words), two for Facebook, one Instagram caption and one short tip for Google Business Profile. Keep my voice, don't add claims that aren't in the post.

Replace everything in [square brackets] with your own details. Don't paste in anything you wouldn't want stored by the AI provider.

Steps

  1. Paste your finished blog post.
  2. Run the prompt.
  3. Check each version for accuracy against the original.
  4. Schedule them over two weeks.

A worked example

Picture a Brisbane bookkeeper who wrote '5 things to sort before your June BAS'. She pastes it into Claude with the prompt. Out comes a LinkedIn post aimed at business owners, two Facebook posts (one checklist-style, one a quick story about a client who left receipts in a shoebox), an Instagram caption and a short Google Business Profile tip.

She checks each one against the original. One Facebook post rounded a deadline wrong, so she fixes it. Then she schedules them across two weeks. One blog post, five extra touchpoints, and roughly 25 minutes of work instead of an hour and a half of rewriting.

Time saved

Rewriting one post five ways by hand takes most people about an hour. With AI it's more like 15 to 25 minutes, mostly spent checking. These are my estimates for a typical small business, not measured results.

What it costs (AUD)

The free plans are enough unless you're doing this for several posts a week.

The free plans of ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini handle this fine. If you end up using AI every day, the paid plans are roughly: ChatGPT Plus approx. A$30 a month, Claude Pro approx. A$29 a month billed monthly (US$20, or about A$24 a month if you pay yearly), and Google AI Pro approx. A$33 a month through the App Store. Prices approx., October 2026. Some are billed in US dollars, so your bank may add a foreign transaction fee. Check the vendor's pricing page before you buy.

Australian notes

Watch dates and numbers. If your post mentions BAS due dates, GST thresholds or super rates, check every version against the ATO website, because AI can quietly change a figure while 'tidying up' the wording. If the post is about financial or tax matters, keep the 'general information only' line in each social version too.

Privacy: the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) cover most businesses turning over more than $3 million, plus some smaller ones such as health providers. Even if you're under the threshold, treat customer details with care: strip names, phone numbers and addresses before you paste anything into an AI tool.

My verdict

One of the best-value uses of AI. You already did the thinking; it just reshapes it.

Common questions

Can I post the same text everywhere?

You can, but each platform reads differently. A LinkedIn reader wants context; an Instagram reader wants a hook and a picture.

What if I don't have a blog?

Use a newsletter, a long customer email you've written, or even a voice memo transcript. Any finished piece of thinking works.

Will Google penalise me for AI-written posts?

Google's stated focus is on helpful content, not how it was written. Make sure it's accurate and useful.

Do this today

Pick the best thing you've written in the last six months, paste it into your AI tool with the prompt, and schedule the first two posts it gives you.
